14.3. Removal of a half shaft and replacement of an epiploon

We hang out and remove a back wheel. We remove back brake shoes (see. "Replacement of back brake shoes").

Head "on 14" with the extender through one or the other big openings in a flange of a half shaft we turn off four bolts of fastening of a plate of a half shaft and a brake board to a flange of a beam of the back bridge.

We take out bolts together with spring washers.

Holding a brake board that it did not hang on a tube of the brake cylinder, we lower it a little...

... and by the crosswise screw-driver it is turned off two screws of fastening of a brake board to a half shaft plate (from a reverse side of a board).

If it was not succeeded to unscrew these screws, see the second way of removal of a half shaft (lower).

That the brake board did not hang on a brake tube, we pass a bolt of M8 through one of its top fixing openings and we insert it into the corresponding opening of a flange of a beam.

We turn a half shaft plate...

... we roll two bolts of M 12x1,25 with a length of carving part not less than 80 mm diametrically located openings of fastening of a wheel against the stop in a brake board near openings in a beam flange.

Alternately wrapping bolts...

... we press off and take out a half shaft.

It is possible to dismantle a half shaft also, having used a wheel as a shock stripper. We wrap two bolts 100-150 mm long in nave openings, having passed them through wheel openings...

... and, having undertaken a wheel, by breakthrough it is shifted and we take out a half shaft.

If it was not succeeded to unscrew two screws of fastening of a brake board to a half shaft plate, then the half shaft should be removed together with a brake board. For this purpose we disconnect a brake tube from the back wheel cylinder (see. "Replacement of the back wheel cylinder") and fastening of a back tip of a cover of a branch of a cable of the parking brake to a brake board (see. "Adjustment and removal of knots of the parking brake system"). Using a wheel as a shock stripper...

... we shift and remove a half shaft together with a brake board.

Pay attention: at the Izh-2126 car of a half shaft of different length (right is shorter).

We hook an epiploon an assembly shovel...

... also we take out it.

Suitable piece of a pipe we press a new epiploon.

At deformation of a half shaft, wear of its shliyets, and also wear of the bearing we replace a half shaft on new assembled with the bearing and a locking ring (independently it is not recommended to replace the bearing or a locking ring).

We establish a half shaft assembled in the return sequence.
