2.4. Check and adjustment of thermal gaps in the drive of valves

We perform work on the cold engine.

We uncover heads of the block of cylinders (see. "Replacement of laying of a cover of a head of the block of cylinders").

The powerful screw-driver turned a bent shaft of the engine for ratchet teeths clockwise to situation at which...

... the tag (risk) on a flange of the camshaft will coincide with the middle of inflow on a forward support of the camshaft...

... and a tag on a pulley of a bent shaft (the second for the direction of rotation) - with an edge of the adjusting pin located on the lower cover of the drive of the camshaft.

At such provision of cranked and distributive shaft (the end of a step of compression in the first cylinder) we check and if necessary we regulate thermal gaps of inlet and final valves of the first cylinder. For this purpose...

... we insert the probe 0,15 mm thick between end faces of a tip of the adjusting screw of a yoke and a core of the valve.

At the correct adjustment the probe has to enter a gap with small effort. If the gap is more or less norm...

... a key "on 14" we weaken a lock-nut of the adjusting screw of a yoke and we rotate the screw for a shaft a key "on 5,5" before easy jamming of the probe.

Holding the screw, we tighten its lock-nut and we double-check the probe a gap. Similarly we check and if necessary we regulate a gap of other valve of the first cylinder.

For check and adjustment of gaps of valves of the third, fourth and second cylinders every time on 180 ° is consistently turned a bent shaft (half-turn). Upon termination of adjustment we establish a cover of a head of the block of cylinders and the return sequence.
